Quality and Standards

Quality and standards for Nordmanns Christmas trees

Danish Trees ApS supplies Christmas trees of a very high standard of the species Ambrolauri, Tversted and Borjomi.

Danish Tree ApS has its own labelling system as far as the colours of labels are concerned, but complies with the European standards for classification of qualities.

Danish Trees ApS uses three quality certificates: “Diamond” trees labelled with red labels, “Gold” trees labelled with golden labels and “Silver” trees labelled with silver labels.

Quality labels

Diamond

Diamond will always appear as an attractive and saleable Christmas tree where the overall appearance is of crucial importance. The Christmas tree may range from open to dense where the angles of the branch whorls as well as the number of internodal branches are of crucial importance to the overall appearance of the tree. Repairs of earlier damage may be accepted if such repairs have been made in a manner that does not disturb with the overall appearance.

The shape of the tree will appear with a natural width to height ratio, ensuring a positive overall appearance. The tree has a straight trunk in the middle of the tree, and the branch whorls and internodal branches are positioned in such manner that the trunk does not appear dominant.

The leader is of a fair length and is not a lateral branch that has been straightened.

The colour will appear as a uniform greenish to dark green colour with generally no yellowish shade, with the exception of the lower part of the tree where a minor colour variation may occur.

Needles are thick and buds are normally developed, showing no signs of insect damage, algae, frost damage, animal bites, damage caused by abrasion or other inflicted damage. Insignificant loss of needles may occur in small parts of the tree.

Gold

Gold will always appear as an attractive and saleable Christmas tree where the general appearance is of great importance. The Gold tree may be more open than the Diamond tree where the angles of the branch whorls as well as the number of internodal branches are of crucial importance to the overall appearance of the tree. However, the inter-branch whorl distance may be bigger. Repairs of earlier damage may be accepted if such repairs have been made in a manner that does not disturb with the overall appearance.

Silver

Silver will appear as a saleable Christmas tree. A Silver tree may range from dense to open, where the angles of the branch whorls as well as the number of internodal branches may vary; however, the inter-branch whorl distance may be bigger, and the tree may be short of one or two branches. Repairs of previous damage are accepted.

The shape of the tree will appear in a manner making the tree saleable. The tree has a trunk in the middle of the tree, but the trunk may previously have been straightened. The branch whorls and internodal branches are positioned in a manner making the trunk appear dominant; this is not necessarily the case, but the trunk may be more noticeable, however.

The leader is of a fair length and may be a lateral branch that has been straightened.

Shared characteristics of all three standards

All our trees are naturally grown Christmas trees and appear as natural trees. The tree width and the leader have been trimmed during growth. The trees are properly fertilized and have dense needles; weed control has been performed under due consideration for the environment.

All Christmas trees are cut down just before the delivery date in order to minimise the loss of needles. The trees are supplied with a pruned handle equalling 5-10 % of the tree height. The trees are supplied in a net, on pallets of approx. 100 trees per pallet, depending on their size. The supply will be tailored to meet your requirements, and customized solutions are always available.

Height

The height of the Christmas tree is measured as the distance from the saw cut to the point on the leader reached by the top branch whorl when its branches are bent upward.

The tree height is defined in centimetres as one of the following height standards:

Diamond: Gold: Silver:

100-125 100-150 100-150

At Danish Trees ApS we want to establish a close and trusting cooperation with our customers, which will hopefully lead to a long-term business relationship. We are not interested in supplying trees that are not saleable. But of course, our three standards Diamond, Gold and Silver differ. Each individual end-customer takes a personal view of what a beautiful Christmas tree looks like. Therefore, mixing the different standards may be an advantage. We produce a lot of Christmas trees and will always be able to customize a mix that meets your requests and needs.
